GEN22 aims to support young people to gain work experience opportunities in arts and sports and is a Commonwealth Games Legacy Project.

Solihull CEP have bid to establish a series of one week incubator projects which will see young people (16-24) work with artists and companies on intensive projects designed to mimic the pressures and opportunities of careers in the creative and cultural industries.

The 5 incubators will be:
Led by Calico Theatre
11th - 15th June
Visual Arts
Led by Art At The Heart

19th - 23rd August (with potential for 2nd week)
Led by Liz Birch
12th - 16th August
Led by Caroline Officer
29th July - 2nd August
Led by Tiger Features
14th - 18th October

Each incubator will allow 8-10 young people (age 16-24) to collaborate.

Young people will be recruited from a diverse range of backgrounds from across Solihull.

A key aim of the project will be to maximise engagement from NEETS, Young People at risk of offending and those from lower socio-economic groups, so we will also be working with Youth services, Alternative Provisions and West Midlands Police to give the opportunity to harder to reach young people in the borough.

The project is being led by our youth board and will be launched to young people at the CEP Careers Conference in April.

For more information on each incubator and the professionals leading them, read our detailed information pack:

As part of this project, we have a recruited a Young Producer, who will be working with us to develop and deliver these incubators successfully.
