Writing on the Board
Youth voice is at the heart of our work, therefore we have a team of enthusiastic young people making up our youth board, who help us to shape arts and culture across Solihull!

Our youth board are integral to sharing views, thoughts and ideas on the work and programmes of Solihull CEP, collaborating with our growing network of over 60 members, and leading on their own projects to develop their skills as arts professionals.

What does our Youth Board do?

Currently, our board are leading on the Gen22 programme, on behalf of United by 22 (The Commonwealth Games legacy), where they have been co-developing and signing off the plans for 5 workplace incubators across theatre, visual arts, film, tv and music. They will be managing the entire programme (overseen by Solihull CEPs Development Coordinator), which continues across summer 2024.

Other things the youth board have been doing:

  • They act as consultants to the CEP, attending wider CEP steering group meetings, and have been key to advising on youth engagement and steering CEP projects such as the CEP Tea Party

  • They judged The Core Theatres short is Beautiful film festival

  • They gave awards at Solihull CEPs visual Arts Exhibition

  • They created a lantern as part of Art At The Hearts Diwali parade

I am a first year BTEC Arts and Design student at Solihull Sixth Form College. I chose this course so I could learn many skills and progress in the world of art. I have loved art since a child and found that my college and my course has given me many opportunities including my links to Solihull CEP Youth Board. Here I have further explored art and design as well as the more professional side to art. The Solihull CEP youth board allows you to be a voice and let creativity be at the forefront.

Hi I'm Dea. I study the Art and Design course as a first year at Solihull Sixth Form College. I joined the youth board to be able to broaden my skills as an independent professional, managing projects and gaining recognition in the industry. I love arts and culture and I'm primarily interested in design; this ranges from architectural to interior and graphic design.

I am an aspiring actor currently studying at Solihull College. I am also passionate about singing and dancing and have a YouTube channel, which I work on in my free time, streaming game play video content such as Minecraft and murder mystery.

Joining the youth board is a good opportunity to broaden my circle and have my input in Solihull creativity and beyond.
